The workshop is built on two pillars: In the first session, foundations of Business Process Modeling and Notation (BPMN) and Business Process Management (BPM) will be introduced. Students will learn the constituents of the BPMN and how BPMN can be utilized in the frame of BPM projects. The second session then introduces students to model queries and model simulation techniques that are applied in case study exercises.

Based on illustrating some application scenarios and challenges in Smart Cities, the workshop closes with an outlook on a conceptual-model-aware approach for planning and managing Smart Cities. This approach makes use of abstraction techniques in order to address Smart City requirements be means of designing a domain-specific conceptual modelling language.

The theoretical part of the workshop will be comprised by practical hands-on experience using the ADONIS:CE community edition platform (http://en.adonis-community.com/, Spanish version can be downloaded here: http://www.es.adonis-community.com/). Therefore, students are required to download and install the ADONIS:CE software on their laptops in advance. In case of any installation issues, please refer to the ADONIS:CE homepage (http://en.adoniscommunity.com/welcome/support/) and, if necessary, to the contact formula.
